Quiet and easy to use. My cats love it!

I have 5 cats, and they all love this water bowl. I got this as the upstairs water bowl. It is very quiet. Two of my cats love to lick condensation off glasses and soda cans, and so they love to drink from the water on the dome. My other cats love the cool water in the bowl that is constantly kept cat-hair-free when it recirculates back into the dome through a mechanical filter. This filter also has a few token grains of carbon, but I can't say there's really enough to do anything significant.
It is not like a water faucet, so if your cats like drinking from the faucet, this might not be the right fountain for you.
It took a few days before any of my cats would drink from it, but now they all use it. It's a great way to make sure your cats are getting enough to drink.
I can easily recommend this water fountain for your cat. I expect this would work out very well with small dogs, too.

My wife and I bought this fountain to replace the poorly-designed Petmate fountain that we wasted our money on the first time around. For some reason, most pet fountains have the filter after the pump, so the pump instantly gets clogged with food/pet hair/debris. After getting tired of cleaning the Petmate unit on a weekly basis, I decided to go looking for something better.
The Catit is the ONLY one I found with the filter ahead of the pump in the flow pattern. As such, the filter traps most of the debris before it reaches the pumps. As a result, I can go far, far longer between cleanings. Also, this unit comes completely apart (even the dome comes apart), and can be easily stuck in a dishwasher.
The unit can be noisy, but that's usually when it gets a bit dirty, and the pump cavitates. Often you can just unplug it for several seconds and plug it back in and it will run totally quiet.
The only downside is that it is a bit more of a pain to refill than the others, as you have to remove the dome and carry it to the sink, invert it, fill it up, then flip it back over to seat it back on the base. It tends to drip, and it can take some coaxing to get seated, but that's a small price to pay when you can go so much longer between clogged pumps!

At first glance, this water fountain is very fun and looks nice. I have 2 cats who like it. However, the filter gets very dirty quickly and the water pump gets clogged, so the fountain part doesn't work all the time. The water pump is very noisy.

Two weeks after receivig the the product the pump went out. I'm deeply upset and disappointed this happened. I've had to send the pump In for repair and have not received it back yet. Let's hope the new pump works better than the last or I'll be returning the entire purchase!
