The only thing I really don't care about is the straps that hold the basket to the handle bars, they limit the opening to the basket, making it not so easy placing my 5lb chi inside.

My 12 lb Jack Russel was a little uncomfortable at first, but once she sat down got used to it and seemed quite content in the basket. As the other reviewer stated the straps do get in the way a little bit, but it's manageable. Now we can take our dog on bike rides and not feel guilty for leaving her at the house. When we get to the woods we let her out of the basket and she follows along on foot. It was sturdy compared to other baskets I looked at.
