My dogs love it...
by .. K. J. Mitchell ()
I've read a number of reviews on these 'Muttos' treats stating that peoples' dogs don't particularly care for these gems. My dogs must be some kind of starved peasants, because they love them. They truly think they are the God given ambrosia of all dogkind. A panacea for all of life's little doggie misfortunes.
If your dog eats filet mignon, baked alaska, crab legs and the like for dinner on a daily basis... sure, they may not do backflips for these, but what self-respecting heir(ess) would? Though for the normal, unwashed masses these are quite satisfactory.
If you don't have the unique distinction of a prestigious Ivy League M.D., or perhaps even a Cal State D.V.M., then these are the treats for your dog.
My dogs, from Chihuahua to German Shepherd, salivate with bated breath the moment they hear the "treat jar" jostle. I am instantly transported into Pavlov's once living body, marveling at the exuberance my dogs display when I announce that it is, indeed, treat time.
These treats are highly recommended by myself, my fiancée, and my (undiscerning) dogs.
Not easy to break but my Moose loves them

My dog will eat absolutely anything but knowing my dog well I can tell when he especially likes something and these rank high up there for biscuit type treats and he has tried lots. I like the short ingredient list as with most Cloud star product and appreciate the recycled paper boxes.
The only drawback is the score that they put there so you can break them into smaller pieces. If I am really careful I can break it there and only get a small pile of crumbs but more often than not they break in several other places so you are left with several crumbly pieces. I wish they would just make them small to begin with, for big dogs if you want to give more you still can so I don't see the point. My dog is 105lbs and I like to keep treats small so he will stay lean and before they are broken they are a little larger than I would want to give (i.e. these are not 'training treats' even for larger dogs) throughout the day (yes I am stingy with the treats). Still my dog like s them and I have learned to break them while they are in the box so the crumbs don't go everywhere so I am happy as usual with this Cloud Star product.
Veterinarian review

Once again, I feel like I might have the most finicky, palate-discriminating dog out there. JP, my 11 year old pit bull, turned up his nose to the newest Cloud Star dog treat: muttos. Trust me, I've tried all the flavors of Muttos and my dog still won't eat them without enticement. These treats come in several flavors: duck and sweet potato; turkey and cranberry; and oatmeal and blueberry. This treat is basically two flavors and two pieces of a treat combined into one (i.e., a green apple hard core with a hard peanut butter/whole wheat base around it). These biscuits supposedly are "easy to split," thanks to the scored line down the middle, but I found that my 5'4" 120 lb frame is likely too strong for them (as the biscuit crumbles into lots of crumbs, while splitting in between the two flavors)... in other words, it doesn't split or score down the middle like it's supposed to!
I have been putting these into the center of JP's Kong toy, and he'll eventually eat them, but they aren't the top treat that he reaches for. That said, any normal dog that likes dry treats will likely enjoy them. The other benefit is what you see on the ingredients is what you get - it contains the following American-made ingredients: whole wheat flour, ground oats, expeller pressed canola oil, peanut butter, apples, sea salt, chlorophyll (natural coloring agent - the green from plants), and mixed toxopherols (natural preservative). Overall, I didn't (well, JP didn't) find the taste irresistable, but I rest assured in knowing that the ingredients are all pretty top notch.
